The Dotun Tejuoso Muscular Dystrophy Foundation (DTMDF), in collaboration with the neuromuscular team at University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, and its partners, has supported the establishment of a dedicated Muscular Dystrophy (MD) Clinic at UCH.
The launch of this clinic represents an important step towards improving access to specialised care, medical assessment, and ongoing support for individuals and families affected by muscular dystrophy in Nigeria.
For many families, living with muscular dystrophy comes with significant challenges, including delayed diagnosis, limited access to reliable information, and difficulties accessing appropriate care. The clinic aims to help address these challenges by providing a dedicated point of care and strengthening collaboration between healthcare professionals, patients, caregivers, and advocacy organisations.

This initiative also complements the Muscular Dystrophy Registry Nigeria (MDRN), which seeks to improve understanding of muscular dystrophy through systematic data collection, research, and patient engagement.
For DTMDF, this is more than the establishment of a clinic. It is part of a broader commitment to ensuring that people affected by muscular dystrophy are recognised, supported, and connected to the care and information they need.
