At the Dotun Tejuoso Muscular Dystrophy Foundation (DTMDF), we are driven by a passionate commitment to make a difference in the lives of individuals affected by muscular dystrophy and neuromuscular disorders in Nigeria. Our story began with a recognition of the challenges faced by over 19 million people living with various forms of disability in our country, constituting 20% of the total population.
Muscular Dystrophy, one of the many neuromuscular disorders, affects 1 in 3500 people in Nigeria. While there may be no cure, we firmly believe in the transformative power of physiotherapy, exercise, and a balanced diet to improve lives.
DTMDF is not just a charity organization that extends aid; we are a driving force advocating for change. We are on a mission to recommend protective laws, promote equal treatment, and change societal perceptions toward the disabled community. Our aim is to encourage the Nigerian government to align with international conventions, such as the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and Gen. Babangida’s Decree titled “Nigerians with Disability Decree 1993.”
Our core values drive every aspect of our work. We believe in empowering individuals with disabilities to unleash their full potential, fostering independence while providing necessary support, promoting accessibility and participation in society, supporting professional sports within the disabled community, offering emotional and social support, challenging societal biases, engaging in policy-making, and contributing to a just and fair society.
Our journey is inspired by a deep sense of responsibility and a vision to create a society where disability is not a barrier to success, where every individual has equal opportunities, and where the rights of persons with disabilities are upheld and protected.
DTMDF’s programs encompass a wide range of services, from providing referrals to neurologists and professional counselors to offering inclusive medical information and updates, assisting with specialized disability equipment, delivering motivational talks, conducting workshops and awareness campaigns, and collaborating with sponsors to further our cause.
We invite you to explore our website, engage with our community, and join us in this transformative journey. Together, we can create a world where everyone, regardless of their physical challenges, can thrive and contribute to society.
Join us in making a meaningful impact. Together, we can redefine possibilities and empower lives.
Before finding the Dotun Tejuoso Muscular Dystrophy Foundation, I often felt invisible. Connecting with others who understand this journey has given me hope and confidence. The foundation reminds me that my voice matters and that together we can create a better future for people living with muscular dystrophy.
As my brother’s sister, I’ve seen the emotional and practical challenges our family faces everyday. The Dotun Tejuoso Muscular Dystrophy Foundation has given us trusted information, encouragement, and a community that genuinely cares. We finally feel supported and understood
Being a caregiver can be overwhelming, but this foundation has shown me that I don’t have to do it alone. Through its guidance, advocacy, and support, I’ve become more confident in caring for my loved one and more hopeful about what the future can bring.
We sincerely thank the companies, foundations, and organizations whose financial and in-kind support helps us deliver our programmes and expand our impact.

We are grateful to the individuals whose generosity and belief in our mission continue to make a meaningful difference.
